Copywriting

As a copywriter, I’ve held staff positions at Mr & Mrs Smith, the global travel company; Omaze, the fundraising platform for nonprofits; and Alltrue, the eco-conscious subscription box service. Additionally, I’ve freelanced for various hotels, a flower delivery service, and Google’s travel site Touring Bird, among other clients. My duties have included writing social media captions, website copy, paid ads, marketing emails, blog posts, and once even word-smithing messages on branded packing tape.

Website copy

If social copy is my two-second sales pitch, this is where I get a little more room to play — maybe even a 10-second sales pitch. I love crafting the narratives of a brand, whether it’s individual product pages or the story of the company itself.

Marketing emails

The art of the eye-catching subject line, the purpose-driven poetry of a sale email (is there anything more endearing than a discount?), the power of a brand sign-off – I’m well versed in all the components of a company email. I’ve crafted dozens of marketing sweet nothings that have landed in hundreds of thousands of inboxes. Here are a few examples…

campaign creative

Getting in on the ground level of a campaign, from brainstorming concepts clear through penning a landing page, is my favorite part about working with marketing teams. The campaign below was for Mr & Mrs Smith and encouraged travelers in Chicago to escape to Miami during the winter. The colder it got in the Windy City, the more the prices dropped for hotel/flight packages to Florida. I came up with the campaign name “Flee the Frost,” the tagline “The colder the air, the better the fare,” and our temperature markers (brisk, biting, and bleak).
